       Archer's Quest
Publisher: Clarion Books
Publication Date: 2006

Teaser in the hardcover version of Archer's Quest by Linda Sue Park-
Kevin heard a man's voice from somewhere on the other side of his room. "Show me
your hands, Strange One." A grim voice. "Stand--slowly--and show me your hands."

Teaser in the hardcover version of Archer's Quest by Linda Sue Park-
Kevin is trying to remember what he's supposed to do if there's an intruder in the
house--stay calm, don't look scared, call 911. At the same time, he's doing his best to
figure out how the heck some guy with a bow and arrows got into the room. The
archer's explanation--"I lost my balance, fell off the tiger, and landed here"--just adds to
Kevin's bewilderment.
The stranger's astonishing arrival is only the beginning of a dazzling adventure. For the
man, whom Kevin calls Archer or Archie, has come from a centuries-old Korean
kingdom. And Kevin must find a way to send him back through space and time...before
history is changed forever.

Teaser on the back of the hardcover version of Archer's Quest by Linda Sue Park-
Kevin's mind was racing. Maybe Archie got through one of those time-portal thingies
that stayed open for a while, and someone bad came in after him-an evil warrior. Or
maybe even some kind of beast, or monster...
Kevin felt almost naked, there on his hands and knees behind the hedge. No
bulletproof vest or armor-not even his baseball cap, which had been snagged by a
thorn on his trip through the hedge and now hung there, just out of his reach. Fine for
Archie-he's got a weapon! How am I supposed to defend myself?

Review by Jack, 13 (Concord, MA)-
Everything is normal for Kevin, until a man armed with a bow and arrow and clothed in
strange garb, suddenly appears in his room. From there on end, Kevin must help
Chu-mong Koh/Skillfull Archer or as Kevin calls him, Archie, return to his own time. As if
that isn't enough, Kevin and Archie only have one day! During their journeys, Kevin
learns more about Archie and his time. One thing that he learns is that Archie invented
chopsticks! Throughout the book, Kevin uses math, and history to piece together a
puzzle to return Archie to his own time.
Overall, I would award this book a 4.5/5 Stars because it is clever and funny, but is
missing action that a book with a plot this good needs. I would suggest it to ages 7-11.
I would suggest these ages because it would be a little long, but a fun book to 7 year
olds, and to 11 years old it wouldn't be too short so that they wouldn't enjoy it. I really
enjoyed learning some facts about archery that Linda Sue Parks cleverly places
throughout the story.
