About the Author: Eoin Colfer is a former elementary school teacher. Artemis Fowl was

Teaser on the inside of the hardcover version of The Arctic Incident by Eoin Colfer-
The world's youngest, brightest, and most dangerous criminal mastermind is back.
At the start of his second adventure, Artemis is at a boarding school in Ireland when he
receives an urgent video e-mail from Russia. In it is a plea from a man who has been
kidnapped by the Russian Mafiya - a man Artemis had thought he would never see again:
his beloved father. As Artemis rushes to his rescue, he is stopped by a familiar nemesis,
Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon fairy police. But this time, instead of battling the
fairies, he is going to have to join forces with them if he wants to save one of the few
people in the world he loves.

Review by Jack, 13 (Concord, MA)-
Artemis Fowl is back in a book to rival the first when Artemis receives a message
concerning his lost father. His father disappeared when his ship, the Fowl Star, was hit
by a rocket. Fowl lost a father - presumed dead by the courts - and Butler lost a uncle - the
body found. Artemis has received a video message showing a scarred man with one leg.
Around this man's neck was a sign that read; Zdravstvvutye syn - Hello son. Also,
underground, Holly Short is having trouble of her own. Goblins are becoming more and
more bold, and it is soon discovered that they are trading with at least one human,
because they have outdated weapons and are using human batteries to power them.
The human suspected, of course, is none other then Artemis Fowl.
I would rate this book a 4.9/5 Stars because it amounted to a great story, just like the first
book, but was hard to keep up with because the setting kept changing, and so did the
final objective, which was confusing. I enjoyed that Eoin Colfer brought back familiar
characters such as Mulch Diggums, Foaly, Commander Root and Chix Verbil, and made
them a large part of the interesting plot. Overall, a great book that changes the
perspective of Artemis Fowl with each page.
